Codeine Phosphate 30mg
Codeine is used for short-term relief of mild to moderate pain. It’s best used when other pain treatments haven’t worked. If you need opioid pain relief, there are better options than codeine. They tend to work better for most people.
Some folks won’t find relief with codeine because their bodies can’t process it well. This is more common in Caucasians. Others process codeine faster due to genetic differences. This can mean higher doses building up quickly, leading to more side effects.

What happens if I overdose?
If you take too much codeine, get help right away. Call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222 or go to the ER. Overdosing on codeine can be deadly, especially for kids or anyone using it without a prescription. Too much codeine can make your muscles weak, skin cold and sweaty, pupils tiny, breathing very slow, and you extremely sleepy or even put you in a coma.
Disclaimer:
If your pain is not well managed with codeine or you have any new, unpredictable or undesirable side effects, see your doctor. And always use medication on your doctors prescription.
Who can and cannot take Codeine?
Codeine is suitable for adults and children over 12, but only recommended for children aged 12-18 if paracetamol or ibuprofen haven’t worked. It’s not advised for people with conditions like lung or liver issues, low blood pressure, seizures, or a history of addiction. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid it unless advised by a doctor. Additionally, children under 18 who’ve had tonsils or adenoids removed due to obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) should not take codeine, as it can worsen breathing problems during sleep.
